A day in the life of Joe (a refrigerator repairman)

It’s early morning and while having his morning coffee Joe checks the faxed Route Sheet from his office with today’s service calls on his cellular phone and prints it to his portable printer by wireless connection. The Route Sheet is sorted by distance from nearest to farthest calls with the preferred times and telephone numbers of each client shown to allow him to contact them in case of delay.

It’s almost time for Joe to leave for his first call and he sees one of his calls is at a farm he has never been to before. He calls the client and requests a map to be faxed to his phone to minimize time lost locating the address.

On completion of the repair Joe accesses the Job Card details on his phone, enters the Serial Number information, time and materials used and sends the information across the cellular network to his company’s computer system.  This system verifies if the repair is under Warranty, Service Contract or whether special pricing applies and returns a billing document with applicable taxes to Joe’s phone for printing of the document on his portable printer. Joe records the cheque number and confirms the payment amount, the client signs the invoice and Joe scans it through his Printer/Scanner and transmits the proof of completion to his office for electronic archiving and returns the original document to the client
